Ballard High School Foundation Auction 2020 and Golf Classic are a success!

We weren’t sure how things were going to go this year. COVID19 and the lockdown hit just as we were about to put planning for the Annual Dinner Of Champions (and the Ballard High School Foundation Annual Golf Classic) into high gear. We had to make some decisions fast:

  • can we still have the golf tournament?
  • if we thing we can, how will that work? Will be people want to adapt to social distancing guidelines?
  • can we have a Dinner Of Champions? If so, how would that work?
  • do we think we could have some sort of online auction?
  • if we can, how will that work?

The discussions were long and arduous, but after much soul searching and just plain outreach and research, we decided we could do both a golf tournament, and an online auction. We even thought that this situation could bring opportunities we have not had before. And boy were we right!

An Annual Golf Classic like no other!

Turns out, people that play golf every year still want to support an organization they have supported for years more than ever, even under less than perfect circumstances. The turnout for this year’s Ballard High School Foundation Annual Golf Classic was as good as any over the history of the event, and the financial support even more so. We could not be more grateful to The Goodman Foundation & John Goodman, our Title Sponsor, and Covich Williams & Mason & and Linda Williams, our Presenting Sponsor, for coming through in a big way for 2020.

The social distanced and tee time based event was definitely different, but it was a great event!

No Dinner Of Champions, but an auction with new opportunities for all

This year without the Dinner Of Champions, we decided to do something very different- a week long online auction, culminating in a live streamed auction event. We thought that this could be a great opportunity to do something different, but also to reach the greater Ballard High School Community, and not just the 200 or so people that show up for the Dinner Of Champions.

Well, the Community saw it the same way and stepped up. We had a super fun week long auction that saw bidding war after bidding war, lots of new bidders coming in from the Ballard High School Community and of course, our live event on the evening of August 23rd, hosted by none other than the inimitable Stephen Kilbreath, went off like a dream, was a huge amount, of fun, and again, was supported so well by the community.

So was it all worth it?

Between Celebrating All Things Ballard and the Ballard High School Foundation Annual Golf Classic, we distributed over $33,000 to Ballard High School Athletics, Band, Cheer, and Dance Teams- 16 programs, and in partnership with Ballard High School, raised $40,000 for Ballard High School Field! We would say that the answer to that question is a resounding YES!

So THANK YOU to the Ballard High School Community, for you support!
