We are pleased to share with you that after many years of formal and informal discussions to further benefit students of Ballard High School, effective July 1st, 2020 the venerable Golden Beavers Association has combined its Scholarship expertise and its resources with the Ballard High School Foundation. Recognizing the advantages of a united effort in assisting students as well as reducing duplicate operations, the Board of Directors of both organizations agreed to a formal merging of these two non-profit entities.
The previously established BHS Foundation’s “Standing Committee for Scholarships” will now be known as the “Golden Beavers Scholarship Committee” and will consist of both previous Golden Beaver committee members as well as current Foundation members. Scholarships will continue to be awarded annually by this Committee from a secured account whose annual monetary allocation will be determined so as to assure the granting of awards far into the future. As always, seeking donations for this all-important assistance for further student education will be a goal of the Committee.
As stated in part of the Mission Statement for the Foundation, support of our students (along with programs and activities) is critical in helping to make Ballard High School a world class learning center and also to educate students for the future benefit of the Seattle community. Scholarship assistance enabling attendance to a variety of institutions of higher learning are key to aiding students in attaining this goal.
The merging of these two organizations assures strong support for Ballard High School both in the traditional ways of direct support to the school as well as continued assistance to students through scholarships. We all look forward to this strengthened union of effort.
